Esparto is used as a fiber for wet laid filter media, especially in grades were high filtration efficiency is required, due to its porosity and high bulk.
Esparto fiber length has also a good resistance to shrinkage and stretching, and good inking properties. This coupled with good paper formation due to the short length, makes it ideal for graphical applications.
Other typical applications are artwork, capacitor and cigarette papers.
