Sisal pulp has an unusually higher tearing resistance than softwood kraft pulp. Other strong features are high alpha-cellulose content, high porosity, high bulk, high absorbency and folding endurance. The pulp is also easy to process, wet or dry, and exhibits good drainage and formation combining with wood pulp.
Sisal is utilized for plug wrap and air filtering applications, capacitor, thermal papers, reconstituted tobacco and as a general reinforcing for specialty uses.
